Application method

Surface has to be clean, free from oil and grease. Clean it properly using isopropyl alcohol. Dust and dispersed particles need to be removed. In most cases, good adhesion properties are achieved without using primers.

Some types of plastic, paints, coating and other types of surface treatment have difficulties in adhering to the sealant; for that reason, we recommend preliminary adhesion tests before final application. HARD MS 436 MARINE presents high-performance with excellent adherence in joints without contamination in most substrates in construction, such as anodized aluminum, pressed aluminum, galvanized surfaces, glass, glass wool (fiberglass), wood, painted aluminum and PVC (polyvinyl chloride). We recommend having an adhesion test before applying it in non-usual materials.
The sealant application should be performed in a continuous pass. Apply the sealant firmly, using a suitable tool, assuring the integral contact with the junction edges. When necessary, obtain well-define and clean junction lines, use masking tape as protection, and remove the tape while the sealant is still soft, thus assuring a great finishing. For the sealant surface finishing, use the scrapper moistened with neutral detergent. Avoid bubbles from entering during the sealant application. The sealant performance is directly connected to its good application and finishing.

If this product is used in direct contact, or very close to another sealant or elastomer, a compatibility test should be previously carried out by the user to check the results. HARD MS 436 MARINE has no adherence when applied on silicon sealants or their
residues.
